When your ADSL connection is slow check your Line FIlters aren’t stuffed

So over the last few weeks my ADSL connection has been really really slow e.g my link is 4mb down 1mb up.

Instead I was getting around 800k down and 200k up , removed one of my line filters and all is back to normal.

Brocade Fabric OS upgrade nuked password for admin account

So I upgraded the Fabric OS on this IBM re-badge 200e, it was running Fabric OS 5.1.0 with an upgrade to V5.3.0.

All went well until I tried to log in with our default account, strike 1, ok so I’ll use the default admin account, strike 2, then tried the local user account strike 3. So I was starting to think WTF, anyway here’s what I did.

1. log in via serial with the factory account
2. passwd “user” account
3. Login with “user” account passwd admin
4. Login via webtools interface and nuke the admin account we use, and re-create it.
5. Saved

Sun Golf Challenge 2008

The annual Sun Golf day was once again held at the Vines. Our team got the worst score of the day (Ambrose rules) and received the NAGA award.

A fun day (I lost count of how many balls I lost).
